Supervision, Training & Consultation

Provided by Tayla Fortenberry, MA, EdS, LPCS

Services for clinicians, therapists, and organizations seeking trauma-informed supervision, training, and professional consultation.

Trauma-Focused Clinical Supervision

Tayla offers trauma-focused supervision for pre-licensed clinicians seeking thoughtful, clinically sound, and supportive guidance. With over 15 years of clinical experience and 5 years of supervision experience, Tayla brings clarity, consistency, and an empowering voice to the supervisory relationship.

Supervision balances direct clinical feedback with genuine care for the therapist, supporting supervisees in developing strong trauma-informed skills while growing into confident, authentic clinicians. Tayla recognizes that effective therapy is not one-size-fits-all—clinicians are encouraged to bring their unique personalities, experiences, and perspectives into the work alongside evidence-based practice.

Supervision is collaborative, honest, and grounded in real clinical work—focused on helping supervisees become their best therapist selves while feeling supported, resourced, and professionally held.

What is Trauma-Informed Supervision?

At Rise Counseling, supervision is grounded in a trauma-informed framework, guided by five core pillars:

Safety · Choice · Collaboration · Trust · Empowerment

These principles are intentionally modeled in supervision, mirroring how trauma-informed care is practiced with clients. The goal of supervision is to equip clinicians with both clinical competence and professional confidence throughout the licensure process.

A Trauma-Informed Clinical Lens

Clients are understood through a trauma and nervous system lens. Supervision focuses on looking beneath behaviors and symptoms to understand underlying stress responses, attachment patterns, and unmet needs.

Evidence-Based Education & Skill Building

Supervision includes education and guidance in trauma-focused, evidence-based interventions, adapted to the supervisee’s developmental stage and clinical style.

Therapist-as-Self Awareness

Supervision explores how clinical work impacts the therapist, including transference, burnout, and vicarious trauma. Emphasis is placed on self-awareness, regulation, sustainability, and balance within the work.

Expectations of the Supervisee

Supervision is a collaborative process. Supervisees are expected to bring:

• An honest and direct approach

• A learning- and growth-oriented mindset

• Professional investment in the licensure process

• Commitment to prioritizing supervision hours

• Willingness to engage fully in the supervisory relationship

Supervisees are supported with respect, clarity, and accountability—because meaningful growth happens when safety and responsibility coexist.
